A Non-antisymmetric Tensor Contraction Engine for the Automated Implementation of Spin-Adapted Coupled Cluster Approaches
2015
We present a symbolic manipulation algorithm for the efficient automated implementation of rigorously spin-free coupled cluster (CC) theories based on a unitary group parametrization. Due to the lack of antisymmetry of the unitary group generators under index permutations, all quantities involved in the equations are expressed in terms of non-antisymmetric tensors. Given two tensors, all possible contractions are first generated by applying Wick's theorem. Each term is then put down in the form of a non-antisymmetric Goldstone diagram by assigning its contraction topology. The subsequent simplification of the equations by summing up equivalent terms and their factorization by identifying co…
A nonhomogeneous nonlocal elasticity model
2006
Nonlocal elasticity with nonhomogeneous elastic moduli and internal length is addressed within a thermodynamic framework suitable to cope with continuum nonlocality. The Clausius–Duhem inequality, enriched by the energy residual, is used to derive the state equations and all other thermodynamic restrictions upon the constitutive equations. A phenomenological nonhomogeneous nonlocal (strain difference-dependent) elasticity model is proposed, in which the stress is the sum of two contributions, local and nonlocal, respectively governed by the standard elastic moduli tensor and the (symmetric positive-definite) nonlocal stiffness tensor. The inhomogeneities of the elastic moduli and of the int…
Exploring chemical reactivity of complex systems with path-based coordinates: role of the distance metric.
2014
Path-based reaction coordinates constitute a valuable tool for free-energy calculations in complex processes. When a reference path is defined by means of collective variables, a nonconstant distance metric that incorporates the nonorthonormality of these variables should be taken into account. In this work, we show that, accounting for the correct metric tensor, these kind of variables can provide iso-hypersurfaces that coincide with the iso-committor surfaces and that activation free energies equal the value that would be obtained if the committor function itself were used as reaction coordinate. The advantages of the incorporation of the variable metric tensor are illustrated with the an…
Factorization of (q,p)-summing polynomials through Lorentz spaces
2017
[EN] We present a vector valued duality between factorable (q,p)-summing polynomials and (q,p)-summing linear operators on symmetric tensor products of Banach spaces. Several applications are provided. First, we prove a polynomial characterization of cotype of Banach spaces. We also give a variant of Pisier's factorization through Lorentz spaces of factorable (q,p)-summing polynomials from C(K)-spaces. Finally, we show a coincidence result for (q,p)-concave polynomials.(c) 2016 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
Unconditional Basis and Gordon–Lewis Constants for Spaces of Polynomials
2001
Abstract No infinite dimensional Banach space X is known which has the property that for m ⩾2 the Banach space of all continuous m -homogeneous polynomials on X has an unconditional basis. Following a program originally initiated by Gordon and Lewis we study unconditionality in spaces of m -homogeneous polynomials and symmetric tensor products of order m in Banach spaces. We show that for each Banach space X which has a dual with an unconditional basis ( x * i ), the approximable (nuclear) m -homogeneous polynomials on X have an unconditional basis if and only if the monomial basis with respect to ( x * i ) is unconditional. Moreover, we determine an asymptotically correct estimate for the …
Pietsch's factorization theorem for dominated polynomials
2007
Abstract We prove that, like in the linear case, there is a canonical prototype of a p -dominated homogeneous polynomial through which every p -dominated polynomial between Banach spaces factors.
On Composition Ideals of Multilinear Mappings and Homogeneous Polynomials
2007
Given an operator ideal I, we study the multi-ideal I ο L and the polynomial ideal I ο P). The connection with the linearizations of these mappings on projective symmetric tensor products is investigated in detail. Applications to the ideals of strictly singular and absolutely summing linear operators are obtained.
Asplund Operators on Locally Convex Spaces
2000
We study the relationship between the local Radon-Nikodým property, introduced by Defant [4] as a generalization of the Radon-Nikodým property to duals of locally convex spaces, and the Asplund operators, introduced by Robertson [7]. We also give a characterization of Asplund symmetric tensor products of Banach spaces in terms of Asplund maps.
Interaction of two-level systems in amorphous materials with arbitrary phonon fields
2006
To describe the interaction of the two level systems (TLSs) of an amorphous solid with arbitrary strain fields, we introduce a generalization of the standard interaction Hamiltonian. In this new model, the interaction strength depends on the orientation of the TLS with respect to the strain field through a $6\times 6$ symmetric tensor of deformation potential parameters, $[R]$. Taking into account the isotropy of the amorphous solid, we deduce that $[R]$ has only two independent parameters. We show how these two parameters can be calculated from experimental data and we prove that for any amorphous bulk material the average coupling of TLSs with longitudinal phonons is always stronger than …
